Partner with us to fund new ORs: The new hospital floor will be fully equipped operating room suite with four ORs, recovery beds, and ancillary utilities. At present, 4,500 procedures per year are carried out in the operating rooms. With this new OR suite, a 20-30% increase in number of surgeries is estimated. Built in 1917, the present OR's have been upgraded at various times, but can no longer properly support the demands placed upon them by a busy general hospital. The new OR suite will provide a recovery area and private family waiting room and post-operative patients will no longer be wheeled through public hallways.
At present, Nazareth Project, Inc. (NPI) has been granted and is administering a $1.35 million USAID grant for this $4.0 million project. A non-profit, private institution, the hospital does not have revenue for capital projects, and depends on the support of local and international friends. So far, the hospital has received commitments of $3.2 million for this project. In order to equip the ORs, the hospital must find an additional $800,000. Toward this end, NPI is raising funds through donations from individual donors ($7,616 and counting) and is approaching private US foundations for capital funds.
To donate funds for OR equipment, please make your check payable to Nazareth Project, Inc. or donate on-line through Network for Good.
