Dedication of Nazareth
Hospital's
new
OR Suite
took place on
June 11, 2009
The new hospital floor is now a fully equipped operating room suite with four operating rooms, recovery beds, and ancillary utilities. In the old facilities, 4,500 procedures per year were carried out in the operating rooms. With this new OR suite, a 20-30% increase in number of surgeries is estimated. Built in 1917, the present OR's have been upgraded at various times, but can no longer properly support the demands placed upon them by a busy general hospital. The new OR suite will provide a recovery area and private family waiting room and post-operative patients will no longer be wheeled through public hallways. In 2008 Nazareth Project, Inc. administered $1.35 million for this project through a USAID/ASHA construction grant.
As of June 30, 2009 we administered an additional $300,000 grant from USAID and $7,792 from individual donors to purchase OR equipment.
