The Nazareth School of Nursing is developing into a college

Nazareth school of nursing is the only Arab school within Israel that offers an RN diploma program.  Israel is developing its RN nursing education programs into university or college based programs where the student will earn a BA in nursing. All nursing education in Israel is under the authority of the Higher Council of Education, and these changes are being mandated for Nazareth, but not funded. The school welcomes the opportunity to advance nursing education in the Galilee, and is in the process of developing into a four-year baccalaureate degree program.

On September 10, 2005, the new center for excellence in nurses’ education in Nazareth, Israel officially opened. The construction of the new school has been an internationally supported labor of goodwill, largely made possible by the generosity of Bible Lands Charity, UK. Former nursing school director and EMMS Nazareth board member, Dr. Nancy Martin (Lancaster, PA) along with her husband, Dr. Robert Martin (NPI Board Chair), attended the dedication.  In the past seven years, enrollment has more than doubled. With additional classrooms and a skills laboratory, the new building has reduced class size, promoting a more interactive learning style.
