In October 2019, the family of Dr. Nancy Martin and Nazareth Project created the Nancy Martin Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide financial assistance to nursing students at Nazareth School of Nursing. Within six months nearly $50,000 was raised.
The family and NPI have a goal of increasing the fund to reach or surpass $100,000 so that it will become a permanent endowment in Nancy Martin’s memory. Your contribution will help reach that goal.
The fund will provide scholarships to lower-income nursing students at Nazareth School of Nursing. The school is the only Arabic-language nursing school in Israel. Many students need scholarship assistance since they come from poor families. Individual scholarships will range from 1000 to 2,000 Shekels ($290 – $580).
Nancy served as Director of Nursing Education at Nazareth School of Nursing from 1987 to 1995 while her husband, Dr. Bob Martin, served as Medical Director at Nazareth Hospital.
At Nancy’s memorial service on October 5, 2019, Richard Mayhew, CEO of Nazareth Trust, said: “Nancy is known and remembered for her love and compassion for the students and staff, and for her determination and resoluteness over so many years in establishing today’s Nazareth School of Nursing, the only Arab School of Nursing in Israel.”
